Sewing Room update

Good morning friends,

Thank you for stopping by.  I have only done a little stitching this week, mostly just putting together some Ikea pieces and doing some sorting.  I think I need to go to Ikea for another 4 cube and then I'll be done, I may buy an 8 cube that matches the first bookcase but I don't think I need it and the printer will sit nicely if I get the 4 cube bookcase.  Anyways...I sat and just stared at the stuff, I like things organized and I'm sure I'll change it around several more times before I am completely happy with the organization.  The placement of furniture wasn't hard as I'm limited because of odd walls and placement of a vent.  Here are some pictures of my progress, as always,  a work in progress.

Yesterday i tried to find a pattern, linen and floss that I kitted together before the holiday, it took near an hour for me to find it.  It was right at the beginning of where I started, ugh.  I knew I took it up to show my mom and I remember making sure it went back right in my tote bag, yet I couldn't find it, I had put in a project pouch.  I'm happy that I didn't lose my mind (yet).

I also am working on a Christmas Ornament SAL and have chosen a LHN Ornament from JCS 2011 called Fresh Fallen Snow.  I am going to try and make more ornaments for myself this year.  I have some WIPS that need my attention to and in addition to exchanges to which I have an addiction, I am also participating in RAKS.  Lastly, I plan on using this sewing machine that my mom has given me, it's mostly computerized and I wanted to have a nice place to honor it and feel inspired, hence the guest room (that never  has any guests) turned into a sewing room.  No perhaps I'll have guests come visit, lol, and no place to put them :)  That's how fate works right?

Lastly, Chloe received a bit of a "spa" treatment yesterday at the groomer, I took her to Petsmart to  check on her weight and get her heart worm pill, and went into the groomer to inquire about services and costs, the girl who took care of her was so great.  Chloe is a 60# 10 month old baby who wouldn't even jump on their clipping table without lots of coercing.  Kristy, gave her lots of love and pampered her with brushing her teeth, cleaning her ears, spraying her with puppy perfume, clipping her nails and shaving her paws and fur between her pads and shaving her lower tummy (hygiene shave to help prevent UTI's).  I have to admit, I'm a bad mommy, I didn't know that it is recommended to clip the fur between the pads and toes, my labrador never had stuff like that done, lol. As always, I am a work in progress.  Soo, Kristy actually taught me how to do the paws so I can do it at home.  She survived and she looks great, I didn't pay for a bath as 80% of her is still puppy fur and I brush her daily anyways, plus I think she would freak out with a hair dryer, she is terrified of lawn mowers and vacuums, yet she is gun shot.  I don't get it.  I love my dogs.

just waving hello ~ Tough Mudder

Good morning dear friends,

I don't have any pictures to share with you of stitchy stuff.  I've been working hard on the shepherds bush piece, almost to the home stretch, backstitching and beading hopefuly by next week.
So, what have I been doing?

Somehow I bumped my little baby boy Duncan on his leg on Sunday and he let out this scream that sent the whole family in the room to see what happened, I'm still not sure as I didn't know he was next to me when I went to get up but I bumped his leg, somehow he hurt his back and we've been back and forth to the vet twice this week for pain management.  He is stoned!  on muscle relaxers, pain relivers and anti inflamatories.  He is no longer allowed to jump up or down on the couch.   he can barley make it up the steps from going outside.  I feel so bad, we think it is a disk issuse and needs to be taken seriously so he doesn 't injure it worse.   Little girl Chloe had a well check up and the beast is 60 pounds at 8 months old !  we are trying to keep her from playing rough with Duncan, it hasn't been easy.

I also made it to my LNS, I figure I had to drive 10 miles to the vet, I was halfway to her store and the car just took me there.  I boght some more stash and some patterns to include in some upcoming exchages I'm in.  I also go some WDW and GAST that are required for some ornaments I am working on for said exchanges.  I also treated myself to a chart called Kringles Crow from Threadwork Primatives.

I have finished my turkey pykeep that i am doing for Hooked on Exchanging.  I just need to turn it into the pynkeep.  I acturally made a cute one by Sam Sarah but I didn't like the finished piece enough to send to my partner so I did another one that I think is just right.

DH ran in the ky Tough Mudder this past weekend, it was awesome.  My daughter and I volunteerd to avoind having to pay $40 each at the door!  We got up at 3:30 am to be out the door by 4 am, little over an hours drive (all hotels were booked) took a bus to the site, a 2000 acre all terain vehicle place that the event was at, we were able to choose our assignment, we choose to mark foreheads and body parts with their assigned numbers, it was so much fun and the people who participated were a hoot.  There were 7000 people who did it on Sat and another 3000 on Sunday.  We figure with the 10 of us volunteering we did close to 700 foreheads a piece!  OK, so I did get to take a quick breat to see DH start the race.  It was fantastic, did I mention how great it was?  Very patriotic as they donate to the Wounded Warrior fund and had wounded warriors participate.   This was over an 11 mile obstcle course, DH said it wasn't so much the obstcles that were difficult but the hills were very steep and of course muddy.  when our shift was over, DD and I went down into the course to watch, we saw so many injured people coming off the course on ATV's, then I started to worry about DH hurting his arm again (last year he had to have his bicep tendon reattached to his bone :( )  so I waited and waited and found out the people we were watching were from the 8 am group just finishing at 1pm, there was no way we could stay and watch to see DH as DD had to be at work by 5.  She crashed in the car on the way home.
DH did finish, took him 6 hours and when he got home he could barely walk, I am so pround of him!!
Picture time :

Duncan so stoned last night he fell asleep standing!

This course was designed by British Special forces, this is not a race, it is a challange.  it includes walking through a pond in chest high ice cubes, going through a electicaly charged jungle of wires, some are hot, some are not, but you find out quickly.

A Very Busy Week

Duncan and Chloe

Good afternoon everyone, I just realized that a good amount of time has gone by and this blog has been neglected.  Here is this past weeks events, both my kids had soccer tryouts for Next Spring!   conditioning starts on June 11th for their High school team.   I missed my lns stick in last night as I had to take my daughter to graduation, the band was required to play at it.  sigh.  OK, well, I mailed off my box for the Stitched with Love exchange, my first time participating, at this time I can't post a picture.  I have finished 3 more smalls, for another exchange that I am participating in, I can show you two of them, but not the third.  I have also started my LNS Iced tea with silks, it is so pretty but the silk is driving me batty.  hope to finish it by Monday, I'll be happy if I get a moment to stitch today.  I am waiting for my lns to get in two yellow houses and hill house as she sold the few she had before I could get to them!  damn the bad luck, lol.  as if I don't have enough stash....nuff said
Hope you all have a pleasant and blessed weekend!  Thanks for visiting!
