Exchange received

Good afternoon friends,

We had a beautiful weekend and only to wake up to rain and cold temps, it was 62 this morning and now it's in the low 40's and working it's way down low.  It's been a great day for me to work on exchange finishes and do some stitiching.  My current project is LHN Winter Plaid, and a few Christmas ornies.

Lainey posted the Fall round of Stitched with love...now I can share my goodies with you..

This is what I received from My partner Catherine, I also learned from her that her husband, herself and I all graduated from the same college, same year!  I thought that was awesome.

This is what I sent to my partner Lisa M.
This is a Homespun Elegance chart done on stash material using  DMC floss.  Pattern name is ABC Cat.

Well that is it for now.  Enjoy your week!
Blessings,
Dawn

Fall is in the air

Good afternoon dear friends,

Thank you so much for stopping by. It's been a little bit busy for me this past week.
Finishing up our high school soccer this season with a post season state tournament, boys, lost to a penalty kick last night so they won't advance, the girls have their first game tonight.  I can't believe I survived!  Just over 2 months of being parent administrator, phew, collecting money, placing orders, emails emails and more emails, trying to work with subway on pregame meals (that was  a nightmare, even with a spreadsheet of dates and items, two times they forgot to make the order, another day they made the order and wondered where I was, wrong month!  ugh, I think next year I'll ask someone to coordinate that)  OK, well, the season is near over and I won't be running around with my head cut off, but I love to watch the kids play.  Very exciting for me.

Today I found myself just going up to the spare room to pull some floss, two hours later...the room is tidy, things are more organized, now, I just need a nice big desk to set up my Janome embrodeiry machine that my mom gave me...I hope by the end of the year once I've met some commitments on the exchange rounds that I can dive in and learn or find some quilting shops that offer lessons.

Well, there were a few times I should have been stitching the shepherds bush piece, but ended up playing with some fabric pumpkins, I found several free patterns on cute pumpkins and tried them.  I'm not a fantastic sewer, but I love them, I think they are too cute.  Next I'd like to try one of the more difficult patterns and use several different fabrics in one...Here are the two I wipped up, they are quick, under an hour to make

We've also had some nights dip into the 30's, Duncan has come up to our bed and wedged himself between our pillows while I'm in the shower, of course, after I've already made the bed....wish the kids didn't have to be at school so early (starts at 7:15 here), I think we would all like to sleep in.

I hope this weekend is good, DH has signed up for the Tough Mudder copetition in Maysville KY.   There is a team of 15ish participating, I signed up to volunteer but haven't heard back yet.  It is a several mile (10-12) obstacle course designed by the Britsh special forces.   I look at the website and think what the hell is he thinking, he isn't an old man but he's not a spring chicken.  Can't wait, I do hope that I can volunteer, make sure the mud is muddy or simply hand out water...should be an interesting weekend weekend, but I'm not afraid to ask for a few prayers for everyones safety during this event.  All they support the wonded worrier project so I do admire that.

I hope you have a pleasant week, enjoy the fall weather and the crisp air, crunchy leaves and stitching.

Blessings,
Dawn

Happy October

Good morning dear friends,

Hello to all my new followers!  Thank you for stopping by.  I've been busy, busy working on my Shepherds Bush piece, I even met the woman I am stitching it for.  Our LNS had a big sale this weekend so I told my husband that I was going to go pay a bill (which I did) then took a 15 mile detour and headed up to the store :)   I also got some more stitchy stuff that I ordered on line...

LHN- Snow White
I finally picked it up, I stitched it early this year and  it's been waiting for me...

Some new charts to work on- I love each season, right now fall and everything pumpkins

LHN Winter plaid, the sampler threads and linen
Threadwork primitives Enchanted Crow chart

Toy Gatherer- Shepherds Bush
I'm almost there!  it's been such a long journey, love hate relationship with this piece

It was a busy weekend, High school homecoming parade Friday Night, football game, Homecoming dance Saturday night, Stitching and shopping on Sunday, Made some apple turnovers, so yummy out of the oven, soccer games last night, our school is on a winning streak- Go Trojans.

Today, all is quiet, kids at school, me and my stitching....life is good:)

I got this recipe on line a few weeks ago and finally tried them out, I've made them twice now, they are fantastic, I just can't remember where I got them from and my print out doesn't have the web address.  We have decided this is better than apple pie and I don't have to fight making pie dough that hates me.
I meant to take a picture but we ate them before i remembered.  If you try this let me know what you think.

Mt. Dew Apple Dumplings- cut in half

2 whole Granny Smith apples
2 cans (8 oz cans) Crescent Rolls
2 sticks butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
cinnamon to taste
1 can Mt. Dew soda

Peel and core apples.  Cut each apple into 8 slices each.  Roll each apple slice in a crescent roll.  Place in a 9x13 buttered pan

Melt butter, then add sugar and barely stir.  Add vanilla, stir, and pour entire mixture over apples.  Pour Mt. Dew around the edges of the pan.  Sprinkle with cinnamon and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.  Serve with ice cream, and spoon some of the sweet sauces from the pan over the top.  (I suggest pouring out the extra liquid if you are not eating this right away.) serve with vanilla ice cream.

A few finishes

Good morning dear friends,

Yesterday was busy, I made time to finish my La D Da block and my WTNT pieces, feels so good to see it finished.

Smell My Feet by La D Da, JCS 2008

I tried adding more ribbons but didn't like it so I took it off, maybe I'll run into something at Jo Anns to make it pop more.

Autumn Splendor~ ABC for Crow Pinkeep

I enjoyed making this by WTNT, it was a quick stitch.

My daughter was watching disney movies all evening and Chloe was very interested in Lady and the Tramp, espically in the beginning when Lady was crying.  Chloe typically is a sports fanatic, loves football and soccer, she will generally run up to the tv and watch games for a few minutes.

Lastly, my partner Erin from HOE received her package from me.  I made her a pillow using Black Jack from Country Rustic Primatives and a few goodies to go with it.  I can't seem to find the picture I took so i used the one off of HOE that she took.

Last evening as I was working on The Toy Gather by Shepherds Bush, I saw where I made an error, and since it the same on both sides, I had to fix it because it will show up when it's framed.  Sooo, I ripped stitches out, sigh, 3 hours worth of work to fix my error, and then worked on it somemore, now it's time to go back and see if I can play catch up.

Thanks everyone for visiting, have a great Monday no matter what the weather is!

Blessings,

Dawn
